You have to climb the mountain all over again, to start from the beginning. Memories from twenty years ago right up to yesterday accompany you. And something inevitable lies in wait. Until you climb again.

Ville Oinonen is a long-standing dance artist from Tampere. He has worked as a dancer and choreographer in over 50 productions in Finland and internationally for more than 20 years.

In this new solo piece, Oinonen and choreographer Mari Rosendahl reflect on the cyclical nature of a dance artist’s career, in which one is constantly starting afresh and creating something new, without necessarily ever reaching the end.

What does a dancer’s body carry within it? A life lived, a dance career experienced, all the dance lessons, karate strikes, performances, wild antics, and spiritual experiences. What remains? And what is visible?

Prologue X celebrates Oinonen’s 20-year career as an artist and offers a rare peek into the personal world of an artist.

Ville Oinonen began his career at Dance Theatre MD from 2006 to 2009 and has since regularly appeared as a dancer in MD’s productions.

The poem “Takkuturkkinen” by Arto Lappi has worked as an inspiration for the work:
