Hamlet Private

You have a front row seat, the only seat.

Hamlet Private takes you on a personal journey into the world of Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

Hamlet Private is a personal performance that reflects on life choices. It is a one-on-one encounter between the viewer and the performer, inviting the audience to engage with the great questions of Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

Hamlet is an idealist and a hesitant intellectual. He is an anti-hero, depressed by the moral pettiness of life. The performer interprets the story through cards that reflect Hamlet’s motives. Hamlet’s hesitation creates space for the viewer’s own questions and choices. The performance aims to offer an alternative to the compelling urge to control every area of life and every emotion through intellect.

The performance can be presented in Finnish or in English. One-to-one performance.

Who is the performance for?

For all Shakespeare fans or anyone interested in slightly unconventional performance formats.

The performance is interactive and takes place in a public space. However, the atmosphere is subtle, and the audience member is not thrust into the spotlight against their will. The audience member’s participation takes place more in their mind, guided by the performer, Samuli Roininen.

After the performance, the audience member receives the Talmeh cards used in the piece and a Guide to Dithering, so they can revisit the work later if they wish.
